Information for Parents

Choosing an A level tutor for your son or daughter is an important decision.  For an initial discussion about your child's tutoring requirements, please contact me on 07917 062798 or email socialsciencetutor@outlook.com.

Grades and exam results:

Whilst I cannot guarantee specific results or grades (as this depends on the student's motivation and performance on the actual exam day) my current private students are doing very well.  Some of my former students have kindly provided reviews; please see the Testimonials page.

Qualifications and safeguarding:

Although your child will be at home for lessons, parents are welcome to attend tutoring with their child if preferred.  I hold a full DBS Enhanced Disclosure certificate as well as Qualified Teacher Status.

Home education:

I specialise in tutoring home educated students, who currently constitute around 50% of all my students.  For home educated students looking to apply to university I am able to be your Academic Referee and supply a reference to UCAS at no extra cost, provided that you are having weekly lessons with me.

Tuition contracts:

I offer term-time contracts based on the academic year - most students learn with me until the summer exams. These are usually offered between 09:15 and 14:45 Monday - Friday.  A level students usually have 'free periods' during the school day, so several of my students take their laptops to school and have a lesson with me during their free periods.

Payment:

Payment is usually made by advance weekly, fortnightly or monthly direct bank transfer. I also accept PayPal although you would need to add the value of the PayPal fees to the cost of the lesson.

Cancellation and lateness:

Students who arrive late will still be required to pay the full price of the lesson.  Similarly, I require notice in advance if a lesson needs to be postponed or cancelled. Full terms and conditions will be provided in writing before the first lesson.
